Canciones Para Practicar el Second Conditional

Se usa el SECOND CONDITIONAL para hablar de situaciones hipotéticas del presente. Se expresa una situación improbable o imaginaria.

He juntado unas canciones del segundo condicional en una lista de reproducción en YouTube. Recomiendo que leas primera esta lección de gramática y después escuches las canciones mientras que lees las letras. Una vez que entiendas las canciones deja de leer la letra y ¡canta a tu ritmo!

Ejemplo del Second Conditional:

If I had a million dollars, I would travel the world.

La Estructura del Second Conditional

Los condicionales están hechos de dos partes: la condición y el resultado.

La condición es la cláusula con IF.

El resultado es la cláusula con WOULD.

Would… if + pasado
Ejemplos:
I would be happy if you were here. (Estaría feliz si estuvieras aquí.)
I would score better grades if I studied more. (Sacaría mejores notas si estudiará más.)

If + pasado…, would…
Ejemplos:
If you were here, I would be happy. (Si estuvieras aquí estaría feliz.)
If I studied more, I would score better grades. (Si estudiará más sacaría mejores notas.)

¿Se usa COMA en el Condicional?

Sí, se usa coma pero solamente si el condicional empieza con IF.

Ejemplos:
If I lost my job, my wife would be angry. (Si perdiera mi trabajo, mi esposa se enojaría.) Ya que esta oración del condicional empieza con IF separamos las dos partes con una coma.
My wife would be angry if I lost my job. (Mi esposa se enojaría si perdiera mi trabajo.) No se pone coma en esta oración porque no empieza con IF.

El Second Conditional con el Verbo TO BE

Se puede usar WERE o WAS con IF para formar el Second Conditional. Es más común y formal usar WERE con IF en el Second Conditional.

Ejemplos:
Persona Singular
If I was/were you, I wouldn’t say that! (¡Si fuera tú no diría eso!)
If she wasn’t/weren’t sick, she would sing tonight. (Si ella no estuviera enferma cantaría esta noche.)

Persona Plural
If they were at home, they would answer the door. (Si estuvieron en casa contestarían la puerta.)

My answer: If I had more time, I would keep my house cleaner!

    Debes diferenciar si eres de la calle o si eres educado.

Por cierto que esta tendencia también la he percibido en películas y series norteamericanas recientes.

Aunque no tengas mucho tiempo puedes hacer cosas importantes como: pensar en inglés y en voz alta cuando estés solo, escuchar música en inglés, y ver una que otra lección de SELVA Inglés de vez en cuando. Seguro te ayudará mucho.

    No se puede decir solamente “I like”. Hay que terminar la oración. Por ejemplo, “I like it.” “I like this video.” “I like this lesson.” 🙂
